If anything i would think the playoff format made the regular season more.meaningful. that braves/brewers series the last week of the reg season was the difference between making the final 4 and potentially having your season end in one game. And getting a 3 or 4 seed made your playoffs twice as easy as the 5-8 teams. I don't necessarily think it was an award everybody type of system just because of the high stakes nature of super sunday.
I do kinda think 1 and 2 got too much, but what else would you do in that format? Even with a 6 team format youd still give them the bye to the final 4. Resets after super sunday might be a good idea, and i would be open to a change as well, but i didnt think this years format was too bad.
And BK i think if you didnt have to miss that game everything wouldve been completely different, wed probably have a different champion. So knowing that its tough to say whether or not the system worked.

I think that weird circumstances made the Super Sunday Format seem to make the regular season meaningless..One, the Dodgers dont show up...Two, the Tigers had two regular season players cause 2 guys had committments to their all-star baseball team...Three, BK and his son get sick.... In a perfect world the Dodgers show up, the Tigers have a full squad, and BK doesnt get sick...This changed everything...The Dodgers force TO to have to pitch game one...Trigger probably pitches 4 better innings then Zeh and the Tigers win...that forces Popp to have to pitch against me against the Reds...Then Longo has to face BK and the Brewers win...IDK...Just saying it wasnt the format it was the freak nature of how that day went down....

And in years past the scheduling was such a bitch so super sunday helped with that. Maybe youre done in one day, but everybody else is running the same risk. Its not a perfect format, but what would be?

Trigger may not have won you the game, Popp would have then owned you guys, BK wasnt a lock to beat us, I mean its great talking about what could have been but what happened happened. If anyone other than me could have hit Curtin we would be World Series champs, lot of ifs but they dont matter now. What matters is playing 20 games in a regular season to have it all come down to one game does suck. Regardless of what seed you are, I mean a one game playoff to maybe get the 7/8 seed is cool like MLB is doing now with the wild card spots. But I have always been behind the traditional series for playoffs. I know it sucks with scheduling but it really is the way it should be.

If we had a second field, maybe we could go back to the best of 3 for the quarterfinals series like we used to have

Omar, Im not taking anything away from u guys or the Reds...My what ifs, were just what ifs...i was just bringing up the point that the format wasnt that bad of an idea...those things that went down that day were unforeseeable circumstances...The Brewers had a better chance w/ BK there, the tigers havde a better chance of winning w/ Trigger there, and if the Dodgers show up u guys have to throw both Tadd and Longo and u guys had a chance of losing...This makes the regular season look more meaningful..but, i forgot ur the new MVP of this league cause ur so fukin good now...and way to put ur team down!!!!

I was against super sunday from the get go, and I am not putting my team down noone other than Longo got hits, thats a fact. Just like you saying Trigger would have pitched better than Zeh, you are not putting him down as a pitcher are you? No you are just saying one of your teammates would have been better than your other teammate. Come on Jorge.

i really liked super sunday. thats how it should be. Made for alot of strategy at the end of the season and had a pretty good attendance as opposed to 3 guys watching the entire playoffs

I hear ya Gary, Jay, Jorge, and Omar. You all make good points. I guess the regular season should mean more is what I'm trying to say and the 3 and 4 seeds didn't get enough. I get the schedule being an issue with one field. Ss helped with that big time. My team went 14-6 beat everyone except the cards and went 2-2 vs the braves and we got to face t.o who was well rested. Call that bad luck I guess but a best of 3 series makes it more fair. I'm not complaining how things went. Shit happens and the lowest seed in all sports have started to prove that they can win or go far. The reds played great so did the rangers and both could of had better regular seasons if it weren't for injuries for the rangers and for guys not showing up for the reds.
It sounds like the league is interested in tweeking the set up a lil bit. That's what makes this league great. We keep changing to make it better. Hopefully we can find new fields. Parks will definitely get more people interested

not saying this is how it should be for next year but if i had to do last season over again i think i woulda have had 5v8 and 6v7 on the wednesday before SS and then the two winners join 3 and 4 seed on super sunday for a DOUBLE ELIM tourny. that way only 5-8 is risking the one and done thus rewarding 3 and 4 a little more and protecting them against having one bad game and getting bounced or getting a bad matchup on SS

that's why he is the Commissioner lol... sounds like a solid tweak, and we still have plenty of time to think about it... we really need to know how many teams there are going to be next year before we can talk about play-off format. Right now we have who? The Rays, DBacks, White Sox, Phillies, Reds, and Astros? With the Dodgers and Cards futures up in the air at the moment?
